Description
Catharine Bolnes, Vermeer.s wife is resting after the birth of one of their fifteen children. One of their daughters is taking the opportunity to sneak some of her mother.s clothes and jewelry into her room to try them on.
She has tried to arrange her hair the best she could on her own, put her mothers jacket and pearl earrings on. She wants to look older like the woman she dreams one day to be. Now is trying different necklaces and enjoying the moment. She is using a small bench to elevate her to the mirror level. She knows that she is not supposed to touch or play with her mother jewelry, but she can wait to see how they would look on her.
Her face reflects joy, self-confidence and a bit of the naughtiness of the moment.
The print is offered ONLY in a similar size of Vermeer's original painting and should be printed ONLY on canvas for a more realistic painting look
